Dr. Carr is able to perform a wide range of surgeries from the routine, to the not so routine. Routine surgeries include canine and feline spays and neuters and comprehensive dentistry. Dr. Carr is also capable of performing many other small animal surgeries. Surgeries are performed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday between noon and 3:30pm. Surgery patients will be scheduled a drop off appointment between 9am and 9:30am the morning of surgery. Consent and surgical release forms will need to be filled out during the appointment. If someone other than the owner will be bringing the pet in for surgery, we request the owner come by the clinic prior to the appointment to complete the required paperwork. Most pets will spend one night in the hospital recovering from their procedure.

Dentistry:

Blackstone Animal Clinic knows the importance of a health oral cavity in dogs and cats. As in humans disease of the gums and teeth spreads throughout the entire body by the bloodstream and can lead to critical infections in the heart, kidneys and other organs. Our pets lives are already much shorter than ours, and so it is of utmost importance to keep their mouths as clean as possible to allow for long healthy lives. We routinely scale, polish, fluoride and extract teeth when necessary using state of the art equipment. All procedures are done under general anesthesia and pain management is used routinely.

Boarding:

Blackstone Animal Clinic offers a limited amount of runs and cages for boarding cats and dogs. Due to the limited availability, we strongly suggest that you make your boarding reservation as early as possible to insure availability of space. We provide food, water, bowls, beds and bedding, leashes, litter pans andlitter to our pet guests. You may want to bring your pet’s own food if they are a finicky eater or are on a specially prescribed diet. While you may bring toys or blankets from home, it is difficult to guarantee that these willreturn home due to the amount of traffic in our kennel. All dogs must be current on Rabies, Distemper/Parvo and Bordetella vaccinations. Cats must be current on Rabies and Feline Distemper. If needed, these vaccinations may be updated during your pet’s stay.Drop off and pick up hours are between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm, Monday thru Friday and 9 am and 11:30 am on Saturday. There is no pick up or drop off available before or after these hours or on Sundays and Holidays. If someone other than the owner will be picking up the pet, we can easily have the bill prepared at the time of drop off to enable the owner to pre pay. We do not offer any billing.

Minor grooming, such as bathing and nail trimming, are offered daily. More advanced grooming services, such as full body clipping and breed specific cuts, are available on a limited basis. Due to availability constraints, it is not uncommon to have to wait 6 to 8 weeks for an appointment for these more advanced services.
